I submitted it to the iy_themes LJ group for their "monster" theme and I was very happy with the results. I didn't expect it to become as popular as it did, but I'm happy nonetheless. Most recently it won an IYFG award for best one-shot in their 4th Q 2009 runnings.

It came out exactly how I'd hoped it would so I'm really glad people enjoyed reading it as much as they did.

Author's Comments: This was my first attempt at a Kohaku/Rin pairing. The more I think about it the more I think these two work well together. I could easily see him developing feelings for her as he got older and being equally as jealous of her adoration for Sesshomaru.

I found Kohaku tricky to characterize since we don't really get to see much of him in the series. His actions always seem to be predetermined by others in his life - his father, Naraku, and later Sesshomaru - so it's difficult to ascertain what his individual motives and drives might be.

Anyhow, this one got a really decent reception so I might just have to try my hand at more Kohaku/Rin. I'd love to get a full length fic out for them, even if it's a short one - maybe even an expansion on this idea.

Author's Comments: I wrote this as a giftfic for LuxKen27, one of my favourite writers in the Inuyasha fandom. Her only stipulation was that she wanted a romantic snapshot of daily life for her favourite pairing and this is what I was able to come up with - an intimate morning scene that conveys their mutual love for each other without any words needing to be spoken. My Sanctuary was nominated for a Dokuga Award in the 2nd Q 2009 and took home second place for Best Oneshot.

Author's Comments: This was my first attempt at writing a serial, one based on weekly challenge prompts, no less. When I started writing this collection I thought it might be interesting to trace the relationship backward from the end to see where things had gone wrong. I alternated each entry between Sesshomaru and Kagome's view points so that the reader could see the story from both of their perspectives. It was a really neat experiment and got a surprising reception. It was also my first attempt at writing anything Sess/Kag since I wrote SOSC - tricky but worth the effort!

I hope that came across in this piece. This one ended up winning first place for the challenge.

I tinkered with it a bit and decided to re-work it so it read more like a play off of the "Little Red Riding Hood" story. It turned out pretty good I think and has had a great reader response so far.
